Sean Dyche hails Burnley mentality

Burnley boss Sean Dyche hails his side's mental strength, having come from behind three times to rescue a point against Newcastle.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has paid tribute to his side's mental strength following their 3-3 draw against Newcastle United this afternoon.

The Clarets came from behind three times to earn a point at St James' Park just five days after overcoming a two-goal deficit to draw with Manchester City at the Etihad.

Dyche's side remain in the bottom three, but he believes that the successful festive period bodes well for their chances over the second half of the season.

"There is a mentality here that is very, very strong, and it's been there all season. People have said to me, 'You must be pleased with the belief now' - I was pleased with it at the beginning of the season," Dyche told reporters.

"The performances over this Christmas period have been absolutely outstanding. How we didn't get anything against Liverpool is a head-scratcher in itself; we were excellent at Manchester City and I thought we were excellent today.

"We have just played five out of the top 10 and taken five points over that Christmas period with a lot of games - very good signs about what we think we can do this season."

Burnley are one point from safety and take on fellow strugglers Queens Park Rangers in their next Premier League outing.
