Burnley boss Sean Dyche is reportedly weighing up a move for former West Ham United defender James Collins as cover for Ben Mee.
The 34-year-old was let go by the Hammers via email at the end of last season following an 11-year association with the club.
Free agent Collins could now be snapped up by Europa League qualification participants Burnley, according to The Sun, as Mee is stalling on a new contract.
With just one year left to run on his existing terms, the Clarets fear losing the centre-back and do not want to be left short at the back.
Collins is said to be seen as a short-term option by Dyche, but competition may be provided by Premier League rivals Cardiff City and Championship side Middlesbrough.
