Southend United sign Burnley defender Luke O'Neill for second time in two years

Southend United sign Burnley defender Luke O'Neill on loan for the second time in two years.

League One side Southend United have signed Burnley defender Luke O'Neill on a one-month loan for the second time in two years.

The 24-year-old had a previous loan spell at Roots Hall in January 2014, but only played once before it was cut short by injury.

O'Neill joined the Clarets from Leicester City in 2012 but has only made two first-team appearances, spending time on loan at York City, Scunthorpe United and Leyton Orient in addition to Southend.

He started on the bench in Saturday's League One match against Swindon Town, which finished 1-0 to the Robins.
