Burton Albion vs. Crewe (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Burton Albion are scheduled to finally end their three-week break from action on Saturday with a home fixture against Crewe Alexandra.

While the home side still sit safety in the mid-table positions in the League One standings, Crewe have recently moved to within four points of getting out of the relegation zone courtesy of two wins from three matches.

We say: Burton Albion 1-1 Crewe Alexandra

While Burton are better placed in the standings, Crewe's momentum and extra game time effectively cancels that out. With that in mind, we are backing a competitive draw in Staffordshire, even if a point apiece would not be satisfactory for either manager.

Charlton vs. Wycombe (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Charlton Athletic will welcome promotion hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers to The Valley for their New Year's Day showdown in League One.

Both sides head into this encounter off the back of 1-0 defeats in their most recent league matches, with the Addicks losing to Plymouth Argyle, while the Chairboys were beaten by Ipswich Town.

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers

A closely-fought contest between two sides in the top half of the table is to be expected at The Valley, with both teams hoping to return to winning ways after losing their last league matches.

There is little to separate both Charlton and Wycombe, so a score draw could be on the cards this weekend.

MK Dons will be looking to close in on the League One playoffs when they welcome Gillingham to Stadium MK on New Year's Day.

The hosts have won only two of their last six league matches on home soil, while the visitors have failed to win any of their last six games on the road.

We say: MK Dons 2-0 Gillingham

Both teams will be keen to begin 2022 with a victory, though MK Dons will be the strong favourites to come away with all three points.

The absence of Ehmer, Dempsey and Oliver will be felt by Gillingham, who may fall to yet another league defeat on Saturday.

Oxford Utd vs. Cheltenham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Oxford United will be looking to consolidate their place in the playoffs when they welcome Cheltenham Town to the Kassam Stadium for their League One clash on New Year's Day.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be hoping to do the double over the U's – after beating them 1-0 in September – as well as end their run of three successive away games without a win.

Having lost only one of their last 11 games in League One, Oxford will be full of confidence heading into the New Year and will be strong favourites to come away with all three points against Cheltenham.

After suffering just their fourth defeat of the season at the weekend, League One leaders Rotherham United look to start 2022 with a return to winning ways, as they welcome Bolton Wanderers to the New York Stadium.

Ahead of their New Year's Day contest, the visitors have been sidelined since mid-December due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the camp, while United saw Lincoln's scheduled visit postponed earlier this week.

We say: Rotherham United 3-1 Bolton Wanderers

Fuelled by the frustration of their first setback in several months, Rotherham can use their attacking strength to take care of business against a Bolton side with several issues to overcome.

The visitors have effectively been in hibernation for over two weeks, and were struggling for form beforehand, so will be unable to resist the well-drilled league leaders on Saturday.
