Last-gasp Thomas Lemar strike downs Nantes

Thomas Lemar grabbed a 93rd-minute winner as Caen came from behind to beat Nantes 2-1 at Stade de la Beaujoire this evening.

Only some 11 minutes had elapsed before the hosts earned a one-goal lead, as USA international Alejandro Bedoya tapped home from close range for his second goal in Ligue 1.

Michel Der Zakarian's side continued in the same vein and would have had a second minutes later if not for Remy Vercoutre, who expertly tipped away Serge Gakpe's effort.

It took 24 minutes for the visitors to offer anything in the final third, and it came when Sloan Privat watched his stinging shot blaze over the bar from distance.

Caen were perhaps unfortunate not to establish parity at the break when Privat saw his close-range shot bounce off the left post as Nantes held on for a half-time lead.

Unperturbed, the visitors retained that momentum throughout the 15-minute interval and went close again on 55 minutes when Julien Feret saw his shot crucially blocked.

Their patience paid off in a timely manner, though, as Sala converted an 80th-minute penalty to earn what seemed like a point.

Papy Djilobodji missed a late chance to snatch it for Nantes, before being made pay the ultimate penalty when Lemar pounced right at the death to win it for Caen.
