Preview: Inter Milan vs. Cagliari

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Serie A clash between bottom-of-the-table Cagliari and unbeaten Inter Milan.

Inter Milan will look to keep their unbeaten start to the season alive when they host Cagliari at the San Siro on Sunday afternoon.

Walter Mazzarri's side have won two and drawn two of their opening four matches, although with a kind fixture list granted to them, they may have wanted more than the eight points they have managed so far.

Dropped points against the likes of Torino and Palermo are not ideal, but should other results go their way this weekend then they could move just one point off the top with a victory.

Winning is not something they have found difficult at the San Siro this season, scoring 15 goals and conceding none in their three home outings in all competitions.

In all, their home record stretching back to last season stands at just one defeat in their last 19 outings in front of their own fans, the most recent of which was a 2-0 victory over Atalanta on Wednesday.

Inter can also boast the joint best attack in the league alongside city rivals AC Milan, both of whom have netted 10 times, with Inter's tally helped largely by a 7-0 victory over Sassuolo a fortnight ago.

Defensively they have looked sound too, with just one goal conceded so far - a tally only the perfect Juventus can beat.

Pablo Osvaldo came off the bench to open the scoring in midweek and may have earned himself a start for this match, with Mauro Icardi an injury doubt following his early withdrawal.

Hernanes also netted as a sub in that game, and he too is likely to come into the starting lineup for this one, replacing Fredy Guarin in the middle of the park.

At the other end of the spectrum, Cagliari sit bottom of the table and have had very little to shout about so far this season.

Their solitary point came on the opening day as they held fellow strugglers Sassuolo, since when they have fallen to three consecutive defeats.

Hopes won't be high that they can end that streak this weekend given the fact that they have won only one of their last 27 away matches since March 2013, scoring just 14 goals in that time.

Manager Zdenek Zeman is not exactly renowned as an entertainer, and he is likely to set up for a draw in this match as he looks to finally get a second point on the board.

He will be without the injured Sebastian Eriksson for that, and could make a couple of changes to the side that lost to Torino last time out.
