Cambridge United recall Ryan Bird from Hartlepool United loan stint

Hartlepool United lose the services of striker Ryan Bird to his parent club Cambridge United.

Cambridge United striker Ryan Bird has returned to the Abbey Stadium from his loan spell with Hartlepool United.

The Monkey Hangers had been keen to extend the 27-year-old's stint at Victoria Park, but the U's have decided instead to recall his services with immediate effect.

"Players, fans & staff at HUFC, thank you for having me, it has been a pleasure, I have loved every minute of it," Bird wrote on Twitter.

"The decision for me to stay was totally out of hands! Good luck for the rest of the season."

The former Portsmouth forward scored twice during his six outings for struggling Pool.
