Cardiff City close to signing Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Alex Smithies?

Cardiff City are reportedly close to the signing of Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Alex Smithies.

Alex Smithies is reportedly close to a move to Cardiff City.

The Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper has made 107 appearances for the club and has previously featured in the England Under-19s set-up.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is on the search for a goalkeeper to compete with Neil Etheridge following the club's return to the Premier League next season.

According to Sky Sports News, Smithies is likely to join QPR for £4m as the deal nears completion.

The report adds that Poland international Bartosz Bialkowski is also being considered by the Bluebirds as an alternative to Smithies.
