Catania 2-0 Atalanta

Goals from Alejandro Gomez and Felipe Seymour give Catania victory in a bitty encounter against Atalanta.

Catania came out on top in a bitty mid-table encounter against Atalanta at the Stadio Angelo Massimino this evening.

Maximiliano Moralez fired wide for the visitors early on before a chanceless opening period followed.

The hosts side took the lead on the half-hour mark when Alejandro Gomez found the top corner from outside the area.

Nicola Legrottaglie then hit the post for the home side minutes before the break with a header from a Francesco Lodi set piece.

The second half continued in much the similar vein with both keepers rarely tested.

Gonzalo Bergessio almost put Catania two ahead with 15 minutes remaining but pushed his effort just wide.

The Elephants did soon double their lead with five minutes left when Felipe Seymour found the net.

Catania next face a trip to Cagliari while Atalanta host Chievo.
