Celtic disappointed by UEFA fines

Celtic admit that they are disappointed by UEFA's decision to hit them with two fines.

Celtic have expressed their disappointment at being fined by UEFA following their Europa League game against Inter Milan last month.

European football's governing body fined the Scottish champions over £13,000 for two offences, including the conduct of their supporters at the San Siro.

Inter were hit with a bill of £3,663 as a result of their fans letting off fireworks during the encounter, which the Italians won 1-0.

"Clearly Celtic football club is disappointed by today's decisions," read an official statement. "Again, it is disappointing that the actions of one or two individuals within a support of well over 3,000, have let the club down by using flares at this match.

"Inter Milan and the local Italian authorities applauded our fans for their excellent conduct and positive support. Once again, however, the actions of these individuals have done nothing but damage the club they claim to support.

"Our fans have earned a wonderful reputation for their magnificent support of the club and we will not allow the safety of our fans, or their great reputation to be compromised by actions of this tiny minority."

Celtic continue the defence of their Scottish Premiership title on Friday when they travel to St Mirren.
