Central Coast Mariners aware of Trent Sainsbury interest

Central Coast Mariners head coach Graham Arnold admits that there is outside interest in defender Trent Sainsbury.

Central Coast Mariners head coach Graham Arnold has admitted that he is aware of interest in highly-rated defender Trent Sainsbury.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Australia, leading to suggestions that a number of clubs were preparing a move for the centre-back.

Southampton have emerged as the favourites, according to various reports, while fellow youngsters Mat Ryan and Bernie Ibini are also said to be drawing attention.

"There has been a lot of interest in all three parties so I know there's always the chance of something happening. We will have to wait and see," Arnold told reporters at a press conference.

Sainsbury is expected to make his Australian debut later this year.
