Karel Fraeye: 'Not accepting permanent Charlton Athletic deal would be crazy'

Charlton Athletic interim manager Karel Fraeye tells reporters that he would be "crazy" not to accept the job on a permanent basis.

Charlton Athletic interim manager Karel Fraeye has claimed that he would be "crazy" not to accept the job on a permanent basis.

The Belgian was handed the role earlier this week after the Addicks sacked head coach Guy Luzon, overseeing his side's 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.

When asked if he wanted the job, 37-year-old Fraeye told BBC Sport: "I'd be crazy not to want it, but interim is interim, it is not up to me.

"My position is not important, we must do everything to try to get Charlton out of the bottom three and afterwards we will see. The short-term aim is to get out of there as soon as possible."

Fraeye assisted Jose Riga at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, when he helped the Addicks avoid relegation from the Championship.
