Ashley Cole 'not surprised' by Frank Lampard's Manchester City impact

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole says that he is "not really surprised" by the impact that Frank Lampard has had at Manchester City.

Ashley Cole has insisted that he had no doubt former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard would make a big impact on loan at Manchester City.

The Roma defender, who is expected to start against the Citizens in the Champions League tomorrow night, spent eight years with Lampard at Stamford Bridge before both departed for pastures new during the summer.

"If I play and Lamps is selected it will be nice to see him because he is a good friend of mine. It will be good to play him as well," Cole is quoted as saying by The Express.

"I'm not really surprised at the impact he is making. I think everyone knows what he brings to every team. It's another experienced player for City and he brings goals.

"He got one against Chelsea recently and he probably didn't like that, but he's paid to do a job. It was probably a bit disappointing for him to do that against Chelsea."

Cole joined Chelsea from Arsenal in 2006, making over 200 appearances for the Blues during his time at the club.
