Daniel Sturridge has not recovered from his hamstring injury in time to feature for Chelsea in their Champions League match against FC Nordsjaelland.

Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of Chelsea's Champions League match against Danish side FC Nordsjaelland on Tuesday with a hamstring injury.

Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo had hoped that the England international would have recovered from the niggle, which has kept him sidelined since September 15, in time to travel to Copenhagen.

Sturridge's absence means that Fernando Torres, who scored in Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday, is likely to continue in the lone forward role.

The Spaniard has started every Chelsea game this season and may have been rested tomorrow night, should Sturridge have been passed fit.
