Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of the UEFA Super Cup between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid at the Stade Louis II in Monte Carlo.

Champions League winners Chelsea travel to Monaco in a buoyant mood after a 100% start to the season that sees the Blues top of the Premier League.

They face Europa League champions Atletico Madrid, who themselves have had a solid start to the new La Liga season and sit fourth early on.

Follow all the action with us below.

9.40pmThat's about it from me but before I go, let me point you in the direction of our transfer deadline day live blog, right here. Our match analysis will be up on site in around half an hour's time, keep an eye out. Good night.

9.38pmClick here for our match report on tonight's game.

9.37pmThree first-half goals settled it in the end to be honest and they all came from the left boot of the wonderful Falcao.

9.36pmAtletico boss Diego Simeone, the man who David Beckham kicked out at at the World Cup in '98, is delighted and so he should be, what a performance from his boys!

FULL-TIME:Chelsea 1-4 Atletico

90+1 minJust as two minutes are added on, Atletico hit the woodwork for a third time as Luiz almost diverts into his own net from Emre's pullback.

90 minAnother change for Chelsea in the dying moments as Ryan Bertrand comes on for Ashley Cole.

87 minFalcao departs to a standing ovation from the Atletico fans, with former Newcastle man Emre Belozoglu taking the Colombian's place.

85 minAtletico left-back Filipe Luiz dashes forward and produces a decent low shot that forces Cech into a save. Counting down towards FT now.

85 minThe crowd at the Stade Louis II this evening is 14,312.

83 minAnother chance for five for Atletico as substitute Garcia springs the offside trap down the right but can't find Falcao with a cutback.

81 minAtletico's set-piece man, Koke, comes off for Raul Garcia before Mata is withdrawn for Daniel Sturridge.

81 minHazard and Mata link up nicely, with the latter being forced onto his weaker right foot before shooting over.

79 minChelsea are in search of a second as Torres sends over a dangerous cross that is well dealt with by Miranda.

75 minLampard floats over the corner and it's very messy before Cahill says 'I've had enough of this', blasting the ball low into the net. The Chelsea fans are singing "We're going to win 5-4!", I think not.

75 minGOAL! YES THEY CAN! CAHILL SCORES!

74 minLampard has a pop from outside the area but the ball is deflected away for a corner. Can the Blues at least get a goal?

73 minI'm sure Chelsea will be able to forget this in a hurry but it's been some humbling in Monaco.

71 minArda, who has put in a tireless performance, tees up Falcao but for once the Colombian is denied by a good block.

69 minSo close to five for Atletico as Koke floats over a free kick that misses everyone, with Cech just about palming it away!

68 minGood hit from Oscar but the Brazilian's effort from outside the box fizzes wide of the post.

66 minAre Atletico on their way to a second successive 4-0 triumph after they beat Bilbao by the same scoreline on Monday? Falcao scored a hat-trick then, too.

63 minAll about damage limitation for the Blues now but if they send bodies forward they're bound to be punished further by the menacing Atletico frontline.

60 minAt least this game is relatively meaningless eh?

60 minThe ball breaks to the centre-back from a set piece and he's got the finesse to chip over Cech and Cahill, despite his best efforts, can't keep it out. What a rout for the Spanish outfit.

60 minGOAL! THAT'S FOUR! MIRANDA DINKS IN!

60 minThat's almost playful from Atletico as Arda slows the game to a walking pace before seeing his attempt blocked.

57 minHazard looks to be brought down by Miranda but the ref somehow overlooks it. Not sure if it would have been a pen or not as it was very close to the corner of the area.

56 minThe impressive Adrian goes off for Uruguayan Cristian Rodriguez as Atletico make their first change.

55 minChelsea try to break, a la Atletico, but David Luiz's chipped ball into the middle is cleared.

54 minKoke's delivery is good but Ivanovic heads away, straight onto the foot of Suarez, whose volley is blocked away for another corner.

53 minArda wins a corner as Lampard denies the Turk a chance to cross.

51 minTorres accelerates away from a challenge, earning room for a shot but his effort is dragged wide of the far post.

50 minThis is Oscar's first real test in a blue shirt, can the Brazilian shine in the same way Hazard has in the early stages of his Chelsea career?

49 minNot much going on in the early stages of the second 45. Chelsea need to get hold of the ball and test this Atletico backline.

46 minRDM isn't messing about. The Chelsea boss brings on young Brazilian Oscar in place of fellow countryman Ramires.

8.44pmWonder which tabloid will carry the 'Falc-wow' headline tomorrow?

8.41pmJust read that the Colombian's buyout clause is 47.5m. Not too bad I'd say!

8.39pmHere's a good stat on the star of the show: Falcao's brace so far tonight takes him to 41 goals in just 53 apps since joining Atletico - he has scored 8 in his last 4 games.

8.38pmClick here for our half-time report.

8.33pmWhat a strange half of football. For the majority it's been fairly even but when Atletico have got through the Chelsea midfield they've humiliated the Blues' back four. Falcao will, deservedly, grab the headlines for his terrific prowess in front of goal.

HALF-TIME:Chelsea 0-3 Atletico

45 minIt's all too easy for Atletico on the break! They stream forward following a Chelsea corner and no one closes down Arda, who feeds the Colombian. He takes a perfect first touch to escape a challenge before firing under Cech again with his left. What a player!

45 minGOAL! FALCAO'S GOT HIS HAT-TRICK! 3-0 ATLETICO!

44 minChelsea are having more of the ball as we approach half-time but they're struggling to break down the Spanish.

41 minNo noise from the Chelsea boys! The Atletico support is rocking at the moment as they continue to dominate proceedings.

39 minAdrian is caught offside as Atletico patiently build around the Chelsea area.

35 minOff the post! Falcao is within inches of his hat-trick after Adrian gets in his entry for miss of the season. Arda was offside earlier on in the move so I guess that's justice done.

35 minChelsea are pouring more bodies forward but Atletico look particularly ominous on the break. Risky tactic from the Blues.

32 minHazard is trying to make things happen for Chelsea but he keeps being met by a wall of red-and-white.

31 minCech punches clear an Atletico free kick after Torres clattered into Suarez. What can the Blues do to get back into this?

28 minChance for a third Atletico goal as five red-and-white shirts streak forward but Gabi can't apply the finish.

27 minHazard wins a free kick on the left which Chelsea take quickly but nothing comes of it. Just quietened down a little, this one.

23 minChelsea haven't been too bad here at all but they've been undone by two pieces of brilliance from Falcao.

21 minThere's just under three hours left of the summer transfer window, can Atletico keep their number nine?! He's a bit of all right.

19 minHe's some player this boy. The Colombian collects on the edge of the area, hesitates and then curls a left-foot effort over Cech and into the far corner. Sublime.

19 minGOAL! IT'S FALCAO AGAIN! 2-0 ATLETICO!

18 minChelsea have a free kick on the right that is initially cleared before Ramires drifts offside, preventing Hazard's shot from causing Courtois problems.

17 minGood jump from Arda at the back post but he can't direct his header on goal, nodding wide of Cech's left-hand upright.

16 minChance for Atletico as Adrian has the pace on Cahill but is denied by a sprawling Cech.

14 minSome classy one-touch football from the Spanish side results in Arda being ousted out by Ramires and Cech is able to clear. Surprisingly good game so far.

13 minAnd now Hazard takes it on himself after being afforded space on the edge of the area. His shot is on the rise though and goes way over.

12 minChelsea are settling into this one as Mata floats in for Hazard, who chests down and lays off to Lampard whose shot is blocked.

10 minThis is much better from Chelsea as Mata and Ramires play a one-two on the edge of the area before the latter can't find a blue shirt in the middle.

9 minChelsea have claims for a penalty waved away as Ramires takes a tumble in the area. That could have been given, too.

8 minAfter Chelsea's positive-enough start it's been all Madrid and they take a deserved early lead.

7 minMarvellous finish from the Colombian, who runs in between the two Chelsea centre-backs before dinking over Petr Cech and hitting the inside of the post, giving Luiz no chance to stop it on the line.

7 minGOAL! FALCAO GIVES ATLETICO THE LEAD!

6 minIt's all Atletico now as Arda meets a cross at the back stick but can't divert his volley on-the-stretch towards goal.

4 minAtletico players were screaming for a pen in the ensuing scramble in the area and I think they've got a case.

4 minAtletico hit the bar! Falcao meets a cross at the back post and pokes his shot against the crossbar from about five yards!

3 minHazard goes down cheaply, failing to earn his side a free kick before Adrian Lopez sees a shot blocked.

2 minLuiz sets out his early intentions by bashing into Falcao from behind.

2 minChelsea are in the early ascendency as Lampard looks to break clear.

7.46pmChelsea will get us underway, here we go.

7.42pmHere come the two sides, Chelsea captain Frank Lampard is holding the Champions League trophy while Atletico skipper Gabi places the Europa League trophy on a pedestal.

7.40pmWhich reminds me, if you open up another tab on your browser and then click here, you'll be able to see our transfer deadline live text, exciting!

7.38pmRoberto Di Matteo has just told Sky Sports News that Michael Essien has been left out the squad to seal a possible loan deal, with Arsenal the Ghanian's most likely destination.

7.33pmHe'll be hoping, alongside Juan Mata, to provide Fernando Torres with goalscoring opportunities in his first game against Atletico since he left the club five years ago.

7.31pmThe Belgian has assisted six and scored one of Chelsea's eight goals in the league this season. Remarkable.

7.30pmUp the other end of the pitch and Eden Hazard will be looking to continue his barnstorming start to the season.

7.29pmThe 26-year-old has won the Europa League two years running and he'll be up against David Luiz and Gary Cahill.

7.27pmFalcao has (inevitably) been linked with Chelsea in the past but since his move from Porto to Atletico last summer his valuation has soared to around the 50m mark.

7.25pmThe star man for Atletico is Colombian forward Radamel Falcao. He's an absolute goal machine, netting twice in the aforementioned final against Bilbao and more recently scoring a hat-trick against the same club in the league on Monday.

7.23pmLet's remember why these two are here this evening. Chelsea memorably defeated Bayern Munich in their own stadium on penalties, while Atletico saw off fellow Spanish side Athletic Bilbao.

7.20pmSo Chelsea name arguably their strongest possible lineup, with Atletico doing the same.

7.17pmAnd Atletico's: Courtois; Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Filipe; Mario, Gabi, Koke, Arda, Adrian; Falcao

7.16pmHere's the Chelsea side: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, David Luiz, Cole; Mikel, Lampard, Ramires; Hazard, Mata, Torres

7.15pmEvening all! Let's get straight to the teams...
