Antonio Conte acquitted in match-fixing case

Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is acquitted in his match-fixing case by a judge in Italy.

Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been acquitted in his match-fixing case by a judge in Italy.

The 46-year-old, who will take over at Stamford Bridge after leading Italy at this summer's European Championship, was accused of failing to report a case of match-fixing during his time in charge of Siena.

However, the claim, which related to a match against Albinoleffe in May 2011, was found to be "baseless" by Italian judge Pierpaolo Beluzzi today.

Conte faced a suspended six-month suspension from football as well as a fine, but after requesting a fast-track trial he has now been acquitted ahead of Euro 2016 and will be free to take over at Chelsea this summer.

The former Juventus boss will now turn his full attention to selecting his squad for this summer's tournament in France, which is due to be announced on Wednesday.
