Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez thinks that Frank Lampard will comfortably pass Bobby Tambling to become the club's all-time record goalscorer before his contract runs out in May.

Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez has declared that Frank Lampard's pursuit of the club's all-time goalscoring record can only have a positive impact at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard moved to within three goals of Bobby Tambling's record yesterday after netting Chelsea's third in a 4-0 win over Brentford in the FA Cup.

Benitez thinks that the 34-year-old will comfortably pass Tambling's mark if he can maintain his fine form until the end of the season.

He told The Mirror: "[Lampard] is doing well and he is scoring lots of goals.

"Hopefully he can score another 15 before the end and it will be good for the team and for everyone."

The Spanish interim boss also conceded in his post-match interview that he will have no say over whether the 34-year-old will be offered a new contract by Blues owner Roman Abramovich.
