Interim manager Rafael Benitez decides against discussing Frank Lampard's contract situation at Chelsea.

Chelsea's interim manager Rafael Benitez has once again refused to discuss Frank Lampard's future with the club.

The England midfielder's days at Stamford Bridge appear to be numbered ever since his agent revealed that the club had no intention of extending his contract, which is due to expire in the summer.

However, when asked about the situation, Benitez opted to swerve the question and instead spoke about Lampard as a footballer.

"I think it's too early to talk about teams and the future," the Spaniard told reporters. "Frank is under contract and playing for us. That's it.

"You know my idea. He's doing well, working very hard and I will try to bring the best from him. My position is exactly the same and if he can carry on scoring goals, I will be really pleased."

Lampard has made 12 Premier League appearances this season, scoring six goals in the process.
