Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand says that the Blues have not been given enough credit for their strong start to the Premier League season.

Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand believes that the Blues have not been given enough credit for their start to the season and too much 'negativity' has been surrounding the West London outfit.

The Blues launched to the top of the Premier League table after securing seven wins out of nine until they drew 1-1 with Swansea City on Saturday.

Despite their strong start, Bertrand believes that the media have been focused on the off-field issues surrounding Stamford Bridge, which have been dominated by captain John Terry's racial abuse case and the recent complaint made to the Football Association regarding alleged "inappropriate language" used by referee Mark Clattenburg to midfielder John Obi Mikel.

"We've got off to a very good start this season and I don't think we have got enough credit for the start we have had," London24 quotes Bertrand as saying. "It's all been negative stuff."

Meanwhile, the Blues are preparing to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday.
