Chelsea duo Gary Cahill and Juan Mata back Bruce Buck's decision to retain John Terry as the club's captain.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has declared his delight at the news that John Terry is to remain as club captain.

Blues chairman Bruce Buck confirmed earlier today that Terry will regain the skipper's armband upon returning from his ban for using racist language towards Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand.

"It's fantastic," Cahill told Sky Sports News. "I didn't really expect any other outcome to be honest. He has been captain for many years."

Midfielder Juan Mata added: "He is a great teammate and a really good guy."

Chelsea overcame Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 at White Hart Lane in Terry's absence, with Cahill and Mata providing three of the Blues' goals.
