Chelsea defender David Luiz says that he had been left impressed by Huddersfield Town's performances during their first campaign in the Premier League.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has praised Huddersfield Town ahead of the Premier League opener between the clubs on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues make the trip to the John Smith's Stadium as favourites to prevail against the Terriers after the arrival of new head coach Maurizio Sarri.

However, Luiz has revealed that he is expecting a tough test against the Yorkshire outfit having been left impressed by their efforts in the top flight during the last campaign.

The Brazilian told Chelsea's official website: "It will be a typical Premier League game. It's always difficult to start away from home against a very good team who have a very good coach. Last season I saw him [David Wagner] face to face and told him his team were great.

"It wasn't easy for them to fight until the end but they have great players so it's going to be a tough game. It's always important to start well, it's going to be tough but we are ready."

Luiz will hope to feature against Huddersfield, having started the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend.
