Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe believes that there is too much pressure on Chelsea counterpart Fernando Torres.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has claimed that there is too much pressure on Chelsea counterpart Fernando Torres.

The Spaniard has come under heavy criticism following his £50m move from Liverpool nearly two years ago due to his inconsistent form in front of goal.

"People put so much pressure on Torres that he can't relax and enjoy his football," said Defoe.

"There is pressure every game you play. It is something you have to deal with and everyone deals with it differently. You just have to approach it like any other game, like a schoolboy would."

While Torres has scored seven times in all competitions this season, Defoe has found the net on 14 occasions.
