Roberto Di Matteo has backed club John Terry to become Chelsea manager in the future.
While ex-teammate and close friend Frank Lampard is currently at the helm at Stamford Bridge, Terry is the assistant to Dean Smith at fellow Premier League side Aston Villa.
However, Di Matteo, who famously guided the Blues to the Champions League in 2012, feels that there is an inevitability about the former skipper returning to the West Londoners in a managerial capacity.
The Italian told The Athletic: "If you can sign JT, you get him. He's a guy who makes things easier for the manager.
"He, too, will be there as a manager in the future. As a player he was writing down some of the sessions and he's now gained so much experience from the managers he's worked under."
Despite winning 24 of his 42 matches at Chelsea, Di Matteo's reign lasted just nine-and-a-half months.
