Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo not planning radical changes

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo says that he will not change the team's playing style to accommodate new attacking players.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has said that he is not planning radical changes to the team's playing style.

The Blues maintained a solid defensive base during Di Matteo's time in charge last season, a unit which guided Chelsea to Champions League success.

Di Matteo insists that despite signing exciting attacking players Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin, the team's defensive shape will not be sacrificed.

He told the Daily Star: "There will not be radical changes. With the integration of these new players, inevitably we will change how we play a bit.

"But I never said we were going to play attacking football – we will play to try and win games."

Chelsea play their first competitive match of the 2012-13 season against Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, August 12.
