Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is reportedly back in contention for the Crystal Palace job after talks with Nuno Espirito Santo broke down.

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is reportedly back in contention to be Crystal Palace's next manager, after talks with Nuno Espirito Santo broke down.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager was the front-runner to replace Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park but talks between Nuno and Palace are understood to have collapsed this week.

Palace chairman Steve Parish has reportedly now turned his attention back to Lampard, who did hold talks with the Eagles prior to Nuno's discussions with the club.

The Mirror reports that Palace admire the work Lampard undertook at Chelsea, in particular the development of young players such as Mason Mount and Reece James.

During his time as manager at Stamford Bridge, Lampard dealt with a transfer embargo and led the side to a top-four Premier League finish in his first season.
