Frank Lampard has reportedly moved closer to becoming the new manager of Derby County.
Since ending his professional career in 2016, Lampard has been linked with a number of positions - including at Oxford United and Ipswich Town - but the Chelsea legend has opted to bide his time before making the switch into the dugout.
However, according to Sky Sports News, Lampard is now in advanced talks with Derby, who are looking for a replacement for Gary Rowett who has left for Stoke City.
At the weekend, the 39-year-old confirmed that he was in discussions with the Championship outfit and it appears that negotiations have progressed over the past 48 hours.
Derby have spent the last 10 seasons at the second tier, with the East Midlands outfit having recently lost to Fulham in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
