Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton confirms his involvement in the consortium led by Sir Martin Broughton who are trying to buy Chelsea.

Lewis Hamilton has described the chance to be part of a consortium who are looking to buy Chelsea as the "greatest opportunity".

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Hamilton, a seven-time Formula 1 champion, and tennis icon Serena Williams were ready to invest £10m each in the proposal to purchase the Premier League giants.

Hamilton, an Arsenal supporter, was naturally quizzed on the development ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, acknowledging his excitement about being involved in such a venture.

The British driver said: "Ultimately, I'm a sporting fan. It's the biggest sport in the world and Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world and one of the most successful.

"When I heard about this opportunity I was like, 'Wow', this is one of the greatest opportunities to be a part of something."

Further addressing the bid with Sky Sports News, Hamilton revealed that he has been in frequent discussion with Williams before the American star opted to follow him in making a contribution.
