Romelu Lukaku hits out at Jose Mourinho for Chelsea snub

Romelu Lukaku hits out at Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho for failing to retain his services for the current Premier League campaign.

Romelu Lukaku has hit out at Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for shipping him out on loan for the duration of the 2013-14 campaign.

The highly-rated 20-year-old was poised to remain with his parent club beyond the end of the transfer window, before signing a season-long loan deal with Everton on deadline day.

The Belgium international netted 17 times in 35 league appearances for West Brom last year, and Lukaku is determined to replicate his prolificacy in an effort to prove to Mourinho that he was capable of first-team duties with the Blues.

He told Sky Sports News: "I think after last year, I deserve a chance - like I did the year before, before I went to West Brom.

"I thought I deserved that chance, I went to West Brom on loan and did well. This year, I have a point to prove first to myself, that I can do it again, and then to Chelsea, to show that I can be number one over there as well."

Lukaku was ineligible for the visit of his parent club in Everton's 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday, meaning that he could make his debut against West Ham at Upton Park this weekend.
