The Metropolitan Police confirms that they are launching an official investigation into the allegations that John Terry racially abused Anton Ferdinand.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that they are launching an official investigation into the allegations that Chelsea and England captain John Terry racially abused Anton Ferdinand.

The decision has come after officers conducted an assessment into the case and a week since a member of the public lodged a formal complaint.

Yesterday Anton Ferdinand broke his silence on the matter, while the accused Terry has denied the claims.

It is expected that the Football Association will release a statement regarding the findings from their investigation later this week.
