QPR boss Mark Hughes makes his first transfer move for Chelsea defender Alex, according to reports.

Queens Park Rangers have reportedly put forward a bid for Chelsea defender Alex.

The Brazilian centre-back, who submitted a transfer request in December, is believed to have been monitored by the West London side, despite being tipped to return to South America.

New boss Mark Hughes could clinch his first new signing for the club as it is understood that the former Championship side have made the first move and lodged a bid for the defender, according to Sky Sports News.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes revealed this morning that the former Fulham boss will have money to spend in the winter window.
