John Terry admits that he would one day like to manage Chelsea after ending his 22-year spell at the club.

John Terry has admitted that his "goal" is to one day become Chelsea manager.

The 36-year-old brought down the curtain on a 22-year career at the Blues when last season came to a close.

The defender has not yet hung up his boots as he has joined Aston Villa on a one-year deal, which was announced by the Championship club on Monday.

Looking ahead to the future, Terry told the British media that he would like to eventually manage his boyhood club, and he suggested that ex-teammate Frank Lampard holds the same ambition.

"That's a goal. Me and Lamps have had those conversations," said Terry. "Do you dream too big? I don't think you can ever dream too big.

"I've always wanted to be the very best and if that's in management, then Chelsea's the one. That would be incredible but I realise as well you can't go in somewhere like Chelsea as your first job."

Terry made over 700 appearances for the Blues and won 15 major trophies.
