Chelsea are seeking an explanation from Fernando Torres following an interview where he allegedly criticised his teammates.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has sought an explanation from striker Fernando Torres over an interview in which he appeared to criticise his own teammates.

The 27-year-old spoke to the official website of the Spanish League last week, with an English version of the transcript later appearing on the player's own website.

In the interview Torres has been quoted as labelling Chelsea's "older" players as "very slow".

Villas-Boas has now confirmed that the club are trying to obtain a copy of the interview in Spanish to determine whether their centre-forward was misquoted.

"We are going in-depth to regain the tape of that interview," said the boss.

"We'll see if things play exactly as they are in that interview."

Torres was dropped by Villas-Boas for Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sunderland, but the coach has played down the headlines that surfaced from the former Liverpool player's omission.
