Nicolas Anelka linked with Qatar move

Qatari side Al-Arabi want to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka and are ready to offer the Frenchman a lucrative deal.

Qatari side Al-Arabi could sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka ahead of the start of their domestic league season, according to The People.

The new Qatar Stars League gets underway next week and Al-Arabi are believed to be keen to bring in a big name signing.

They are ready to double Anelka's current wages and are willing to offer him £8.4m a year.

The 32-year-old is currently out of favour at Chelsea as he finds himself behind Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge in the attacking pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Anelka has 12 months left on his current contract and has previously been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman could be the latest Premier League player to move to Qatar after Sunderland agreed to let Asamoah Gyan join Al-Ain on loan.
