How Chelsea could line up against Burnley

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for their Premier League showdown with Burnley on Saturday.

Chelsea will endeavour to build on their dominant victory over FC Krasnodar in the Champions League when they travel to Turf Moor to take on an out-of-sorts Burnley side on Halloween.

The Blues marched to a convincing 4-0 triumph over the Russian Premier League side in midweek, with Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi all finding the back of the net on the night.

Now, Frank Lampard's men will look to turn their fortunes around in the Premier League following back-to-back draws with Southampton and Manchester United, with the Blues boasting just one win from their last five in the top flight.

Chelsea's win over Krasnodar saw Lampard make a few alterations to his side, as expected, and the Chelsea boss may be tempted to rotate once again here given the unrelenting fixture schedule.

The Blues have next Wednesday's Champions League visit of Rennes to keep in mind, but with Chelsea still looking to assert their dominance in the Premier League, that is sure to be reflected in Lampard's selection.

The Stamford Bridge faithful have had to wait patiently to see Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner and Kai Havertz all line up together, but Saturday could very well be the first occasion that Chelsea's formidable attacking quartet all make the starting lineup, although Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham are ready for action should Lampard wish to rest any of his big-name stars.

However, Pulisic has fond memories of last season's trip to Turf Moor as he bagged a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory, and the American is sure to replace Hudson-Odoi on the left-hand side, with the youngster seen icing his leg after being hauled off in midweek.

Should Lampard opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation yet again, N'Golo Kante is likely to come back into midfield for Mateo Kovacic, while Jorginho - normally so reliable from 12 yards - will look to shrug off Wednesday's penalty miss as he features from the first whistle once more.

In defence, Thiago Silva was rested in midweek but is expected to be deployed in the heart of defence alongside Kurt Zouma, meaning that Antonio Rudiger - who has struggled for game time under Lampard in recent times - will probably drop out of the team.

Marcos Alonso was suspended for the trip to Krasnodar but is available here, although Ben Chilwell is not likely to be displaced at left-back, while Reece James could come back in for Cesar Azpilicueta on the opposite flank.

It remains to be seen whether or not Kepa Arrizabalaga will be available for Saturday owing to a shoulder problem, but Edouard Mendy recorded another shut-out in Chelsea colours against Krasnodar and is set to keep his spot in between the sticks regardless.
