Mark Hughes calls meeting over handshakes

Mark Hughes calls a meeting with his Queens Park Rangers players to discuss whether or not they will shake John Terry's hand prior to their game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has called a meeting to discuss whether John Terry's handshake will be snubbed when the Hoops face Chelsea this weekend.

The two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with talk of Terry and Anton Ferdinand's bust-up in the reverse fixture dominating the pre-match build-up.

The former England captain faces a court hearing for a racially-aggravated public order offence in July after being accused of racially abusing Ferdinand in the game at Loftus Road in October.

Since then, the players came up against each other in the FA Cup, but the Football Association decided to scrap the pre-match handshake tradition for the contest.

However, the Premier League have refused to follow suit, leaving QPR open to make their own decision on the matter.

Ferdinand is thought to be considering snubbing Terry's handshake, but Hughes wants to know the plans of his defender and the team as a whole before the match.

The Rangers boss is expected to announce the club's decision at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
