Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in securing a loan deal for Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso during the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso as a potential addition during the January transfer window.

Despite sitting at the top of the La Liga standings, Atletico boss Diego Simeone will enter the transfer market in January due to issues in both full-back areas.

The Argentine is also keen to boost his options when it comes to using wing-backs, something which has seemingly led to interest in Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

According to El Chiringuito, Simeone is also an admirer of Alonso, who is expected to depart Stamford Bridge next month.

The 29-year-old has not featured for Chelsea since the 3-3 draw away at West Bromwich Albion on September 26, leaving him behind Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri in the pecking order.

Atletico are said to be looking to negotiate a loan deal with the Premier League side.
