Barcelona insist that the future of Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu is in their hands.

Barcelona have denied Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas's claims that they cannot re-sign Oriol Romeu unless the Blues agree to sell.

The 20-year-old joined Chelsea from Barca in August and has started the last five games for the club.

Villas-Boas suggested on Monday that Barcelona had no say over the future of the Spaniard, but the Catalan club have insisted that they can re-sign the midfielder for £9.5m next summer.

"The future of Oriol is in our hands and not Chelsea's. We could re-sign the kid in accordance with the deal and do not understand what Villas-Boas is saying," a Barcelona source stated.

Chelsea will look to continue their recent solid form when they travel to Wigan on Saturday evening.
