Chelsea 'lining up bid for Max Bird'

Chelsea plan a summer move for Derby County teenager Max Bird, according to a report.

Chelsea are reportedly planning a summer move for Derby County midfielder Max Bird.

The 19-year-old has made 13 Championship appearances for the Rams during the current season, in addition to featuring in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and assistant Jody Morris were hugely impressed by Bird's progress during their time as the management team at Pride Park.

The report claims that both Lampard and Morris feel that the teenager could become an established Premier League performer in the future and are now weighing up a summer approach.

Bird, who has largely played as a holding midfielder during the current season, has a contract at Pride Park until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are allegedly also keen on securing a loan deal for Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho during this summer's window.
