Chelsea overtake Manchester City as favourites to sign Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, according to a report.

Chelsea have reportedly taken over from Manchester City as the favourites to sign Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.

The Premier League champions were thought to be in the driving seat to land the Colombian, but according to the Daily Star, it is now Chelsea who look most likely to sign the forward.

It is believed that a fee of around £40m will be enough to lure him away from Vicente Calderon, and Blues owner Roman Abramovich is willing to fund the deal at the end of the season.

The former Porto man has carved out a reputation as one of the finest strikers in Europe in recent years and has scored 15 goals for Atletico this season.
