Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly hold an interest in signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan in 2024.

AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is reportedly attracting interest from each of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Having spent much of his time in the professional ranks with Lille, the 28-year-old has not always been regarded as one of the most high-profile stoppers in Europe.

However, since arriving at San Siro in 2021, Milan have won a Serie A title and reached the Champions League semi-finals, making a total of 74 appearances in all competitions.

Furthermore, Maignan is now regarded as the first-choice pick with France, a consequence of Hugo Lloris's retirement from international duty.

Holding a contract at Milan until 2026, the Italian giants are in a strong position to retain the services of Maignan in the long term.

Nevertheless, according to Calciomercato, Chelsea and PSG are monitoring any developments with the future of the stopper over the coming months.

The report suggests that Milan officials have plans in place to meet with the representatives of Maignan, with the hope being that a renewal and pay rise can be successfully negotiated.

Milan are reportedly prepared to double the wages of Maignan from €2.8m (£2.4m) to €5.6m (£4.9m), but the number one is said to want at least €6m (£5.2m).

Although it is alleged that Maignan wants to remain at I Rossoneri, Chelsea and PSG are seemingly perceiving that the door may be ajar for a future transfer.

Former Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is already the undisputed first choice at PSG and that is unlikely to change unless he moves elsewhere.

From Maignan's perspective, he came through the academy system at Parc des Princes without making a senior outing ahead of a transfer to Lille.

Meanwhile, Chelsea now have Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic as their goalkeepers, as well as highly-rated youngster Gabriel Slonina out on loan.

At least one of those trio would need to leave Stamford Bridge, at least for 2024-25, for Chelsea to get involved with signing Maignan.
