Joao Felix is reportedly set to extend his loan deal at Chelsea for another season, with the player hoping to be given assurances about playing time should he stay.

Chelsea's on-loan attacker Joao Felix is reportedly expected to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge for another season.

The Portuguese forward moved to West London from Atletico Madrid in January, and an extension to his loan deal looks possible.

Felix has fallen down the pecking order since Frank Lampard returned to take caretaker charge, but could stay when the club hire a new manager in the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to take charge at the Bridge, and the Daily Mail claim that Felix will seek assurances that he will be a key player for the Blues should he remain at the club.

Felix initially made it clear that qualifying for the Champions League would go a long way in persuading him to stay, but with that no longer possible, the 23-year-old evidently wants other promises to be kept.

With Chelsea reportedly unwilling to pay Atletico's tag of £89m for the player, another loan deal looks set to be the only solution.

Since Lampard took charge, Felix has started just twice, and has been left on the bench for the last three outings, with goals against West Ham United and Everton all he has to show for himself in a Chelsea shirt so far.
