Andreas Christensen: 'My future is in Chelsea's hands'

Defender Andreas Christensen admits that Chelsea will have the final say on whether he returns to the Blues' first-team squad next season.

Defender Andreas Christensen has admitted that he does not know whether his future lies at Chelsea.

Christensen is currently on a two-season loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and after winning the club's Player of the Year award in May, he is highly regarded by the Bundesliga side.

Chelsea have previously said that Christensen will return to Stamford Bridge next summer but the Danish international has claimed that he is unclear on where he will be playing his football during the 2017-18 campaign.

The 20-year-old told Rheinischen Post: "I do not know yet whether my future lies at Chelsea or Borussia Monchengladbach.

"Maybe the decision is not mine to make. Perhaps I do not even have a choice. There is nothing I can do if Chelsea want me to return.

"But if I get to make the decision myself, I will take my time and take everything into consideration. It is not an easy decision. I like both clubs and do not want to compare them."

Christensen is expected to feature in the Monchengladbach team that faces Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
