Chelsea-linked Julian Alvarez refutes rumours that he is seeking a move away from Manchester City, stating that he is "comfortable and happy" at the Etihad Stadium.

Julian Alvarez has refuted rumours that he is seeking a move away from Manchester City, stating that he is "comfortable and happy" at the Etihad Stadium.

The 24-year-old City forward has enjoyed two impressive seasons at the Etihad, scoring 17 goals in the club's treble-winning 2022-23 season and 19 goals in their record fourth consecutive Premier League title in 2023-24.

Despite mainly serving as a backup to Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland, only seven Manchester City players logged more minutes than the Argentine last season.

Given that Alvarez is unlikely to displace Haaland, who has now scored an astonishing 90 goals in 98 games for City, recent reports have linked with a move away from the Etihad in search of regular game time.

Alvarez squashes speculation over move to West London

Among the clubs that were rumoured to be tracking the 24-year-old are Chelsea, who have prioritised signing a new forward this summer after Nicolas Jackson experienced a mixed first season in the Blues' attack.

However, Alvarez has now squashed any speculation that he may make the move to West London, having confirmed he is happy to stay with the Citizens past this summer.

In an interview with ESPN, Alvarez stated, "These are things that are said, but I am calm, I am comfortable and happy at City. We will see what happens."

Paris Saint-Germain were also believed to have been linked with Alvarez, as they look to sign a suitable replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who completed his move to Real Madrid last week.

Chelsea striker search set to continue

RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is one of the players Chelsea may turn to as an alternative, though they will likely have to battle Arsenal for the Slovenian's signature.

The Blues have also maintained a longstanding interest in Napoli's Victor Osimhen. However, it is understood they are unwilling to pay over £100m for the Nigerian international.

Chelsea are no strangers to dealing with City, having signed the likes of Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling from the Premier League champions in recent seasons.

Additionally, Mateo Kovacic moved in the opposite direction when he joined the Citizens on a long-term contract last summer.

Chelsea made their first summer signing last week by bringing Tosin Adarabioyo to Stamford Bridge after his contract with London rivals Fulham expired.

The Blues are expected to be busy this summer with both acquisitions and departures, with academy stars Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher potentially on their way out of the club.
