RB Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl has hinted that Christopher Nkunku could leave the club amid interest from Chelsea.
Nkunku attracted interest over the summer after scoring 35 goals and providing 20 assists in 52 appearances for Leipzig last season.
Instead of leaving the club, Nkunku signed a new contract until June 2026, and he has also been in fine form this term, registering 17 goals and four assists across 23 matches.
His impressive performances earned him a call-up to France's World Cup squad, but he suffered a knee injury in training that ruled him out of the tournament.
Despite recently signing a new deal with Leipzig, Nkunku continues to be linked with a number of clubs, including Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, although Chelsea appear to be leading the race for his signature.
Eberl has recently taken over the role as Leipzig sporting director, and in his first press conference, he was questioned about Nkunku's future.
"With Christo, I can't confirm anything yet," Eberl said. "There is a lot of interest and a lot of talk with us. Accordingly, something is looming."
A recent report claimed that the 25-year-old has already agreed a long-term contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2028.
Chelsea have also been linked with Nkunku's Leipzig teammate, Josko Gvardiol, who is currently representing Croatia at the World Cup.
