Chelsea forward Kai Havertz emerges as a summer transfer target for Real Madrid, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz.

The German's form for Bayer Leverkusen led to a host of speculation surrounding his future, with many of the world's biggest clubs believed to be have competed for his signature.

Chelsea ultimately won the race to purchase the forward, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in September 2020.

The 23-year-old has been a regular during his time in the English capital, featuring on 133 occasions in all competitions, contributing 32 goals and 15 assists in the process.

Havertz has led Chelsea's line for much of the 2022-23 campaign, but an underwhelming season has seen him manage only nine goals and one assist in 41 appearances in all competitions.

The Germany international only has another two years left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and there has recently been speculation surrounding his future in the English capital.

Bayern Munich are thought to be admirers of the versatile attacker, with the German champions looking to bring in at least one forward during this summer's transfer window, while according to 90min, there is also strong interest from Spain in the shape of Real Madrid.

Havertz recently insisted that he was happy at Chelsea, but the Blues are almost certain to miss out on Champions League football during the 2023-24 campaign.

A disastrous Premier League season has left Frank Lampard's side down in 11th spot in the table, some 20 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

Chelsea's transfer business over the last couple of windows will lead to players leaving this summer, and Havertz would be an individual capable of raising a high transfer fee.

Meanwhile, it is unclear what role there would be for the German at the club next season, as a new centre-forward is expected to arrive during this summer's transfer window.

Real Madrid have allegedly renewed Karim Benzema's contract for another season, with the Frenchman set to play his final campaign for the club next term.

However, Los Blancos lack alternatives to Benzema at centre-forward, with Mariano Diaz set to depart on a free transfer this summer, and Havertz has allegedly been identified as a genuine target.

Benzema has also had his fitness problems this season, and Real Madrid are believed to be determined to sign another forward for the 2023-24 campaign, which is likely to again be very busy in terms of volume of matches.
