Chelsea captain John Terry is reportedly open to joining Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua to play under Gus Poyet at the end of the season.

Chelsea captain John Terry is reportedly pondering a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League to work under Gus Poyet at Shanghai Shenhua when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.

The centre-back has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions this season due to various injuries, while Antonio Conte has settled on a three-man defence with Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill.

Former Chelsea midfielder Poyet was appointed by Shenhua on Tuesday, and it is believed that he will consider making a move for the ex-England international.

According to the London Evening Standard, Terry is open to the idea but the financial offer will play a major role in his decision, as will Chelsea's stance because the 35-year-old would prefer to stay at the Premier League club.

The report adds that there has not been any indication from Conte that Terry, who has been a Chelsea player since 1998, will be offered a new deal.
