Daniele Rugani's agent has revealed that Chelsea have made a "pretty big offer" to Juventus for the central defender.
The Italy international is seen as one of Maurizio Sarri's top targets after working together at Empoli four years ago.
Davide Torchia confirmed earlier this week that the Blues are keen to sign his client, but Juventus have yet to offer any indication that they are looking to cash in on the 23-year-old.
Speaking to Radio Vecchia Signora, Torchia confirmed that the ball is now in the Italian champions' court.
"I can tell you the truth about Daniele," he said. "Sarri holds the player in very high esteem. Chelsea have put their support behind this transfer the manager is asking for, and they have made a pretty big offer, which Juventus are aware of.
"On the other hand, Juventus have several times so far been very clear and have repeated their resolve not to sell the player because they deem him important. And they have consistently done this throughout these past years."
Reports in the British press suggest that the bid tabled by Chelsea is worth upwards of £45m.
