Fernando Torres says that he will not be rejoining Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has described the prospect of returning to Atletico Madrid as "unrealistic".

The 29-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain as he continues to struggle for goals.

Loss of form has cost the striker his place in the Spanish national side, and some reports have suggested that a return to his boyhood club could be on the cards.

Torres spent 12 years as a youth player and a professional with Los Colchoneros before joining Liverpool in a deal worth £26m back in 2007.

However, he has ruled out a return to the Vicente Calderon and said that his aim is to find form with the Blues in order to earn a recall to Vicente del Bosque's squad.

"I have never hidden the fact that I am very grateful for everything Atletico gave me," Torres told AS. "But the reality is that I'm at another team and I have three years left on my contract.

"There are still many things for me to achieve at Chelsea before I return home. Right now returning to Atletico is not realistic.

"My objective is to play well for Chelsea so I can get back into the Spain team. I'm still hoping I will be able to be with my Spain teammates again, play in the Confederations Cup this summer and the following year in the World Cup."

Torres has scored seven goals in 29 appearances in the Premier League this season.
