Sam Walker plans Chelsea talks

Goalkeeper Sam Walker reveals that he wants to speak to Chelsea before deciding whether to extend his loan spell at Colchester United.

Goalkeeper Sam Walker has insisted that his future at Colchester United is in the hands of parent club Chelsea.

Walker will remain at the U's until January, although the club are keen to extend the Englishman's stay at the Colchester Community Stadium. However, the former Yeovil Town stopper has admitted that he is eager to compete at the highest level.

The 22-year-old told BBC Essex: "It would be more around what Chelsea want to do. I'm having some talks with Chelsea in the next couple of weeks. Once I know what's going on there, I will be able to act accordingly.

"I do love my time here. I'm very comfortable here and I'd have no problem playing here for as long as I need to.

"But of course, everybody wants to play at the highest level and if something came in, I'd have to look at that."

Walker has played in each of Colchester's 19 League One fixtures this season.
