Chesterfield have sacked manager Dean Saunders after the club's 4-0 defeat at home to Swindon Town.
The former Crawley Town boss, who joined the club in May as a replacement for Portsmouth-bound Paul Cook, leaves the club 15th in League One and the loss to the Robins was the team's fourth in a row.
A club statement read: "Chesterfield have parted company with manager Dean Saunders and his assistant Brian Carey following a 4-0 defeat at home to Swindon Town.
"An interim management team, which will be announced in due course, will take temporary charge prior to the appointment of a new manager."
Chairman Dave Allen added that the club will not rush in appointing a new manager until an ideal candidate is found.
